I've read 'The DaVinci Code'. I wasn't a big fan. Still, am very curious about the movie though.

I wasn't a big fan of 'A History of Violence' either. I liked the premise, but not how they solved it.

[livejournal.com profile] beluga does rock. :)

Oh my goodness...you didn't like "The DaVinci Code" or "A History of Violence." I'm surprised. If I remember correctly, you thought "King Kong" was too long (or wasn't that you?) and I loved every minute of it. Hmmm....there must be something we agree on. :>D

Yes, I think I first met [livejournal.com profile] beluga at your LJ. I've since been her own LJ quite often.

Hehe, well I liked the idea behind "The DaVinci Code", and how it was set up, but it was simple literature. Kind of a let down after all the hype. Movie's looking good though.

I also liked the idea for "A History of Violence", but the sex scenes were horrible, and the last bit with William Hurt, his performance was just awful.
I actually think the story would have been much more interesting if he wasn't the guy.

And "King Kong", yes I felt it was too long, and so did [livejournal.com profile] beluga. It was beautifully done, and I adored the cast, but I guess the story failed to grab me, and therefore I felt the time.

There are things we agree on, like the loveliness of Elijah Wood, and I believe we both enjoyed "Green Street Hooligans".

I'm looking forward to the film of "The DaVinci Code," too.

I agree that the sex scenes in HOV were a bit over the top, but Viggo was in them.....and that made them OK for me. ;>D I agree about William Hurt. He was soooooo miscast. I've seen him in other films where he was wonderful. But overall, I loved the movie because I thought Viggo was just wonderful.

Well, I've seen the original 1933 KK several times and the God-awful 1976 remake, so I knew the story very well. I was very fascinated with all the special effects stuff. I've watched the DVDs of the production diaries a couple of times, so there were lots of things I was watching for.

From: [identity profile] roguem.livejournal.com
Yeah, Viggo did a great job in HOV. But he always does a good job. ;)

I've never seen any vrs of 'King Kong'. I dunno, but when Ann was first taken by Kong, and he was shaking her all over the place, all I could think was that her brains had to be turning to mush.
It did make me curious about the 33 vrs though, will have to see if I can find it somewhere.

The 1933 original "King Kong" seems so terribly old-fashioned now. It was very innovative when it came out, but just seems laughable to me now.

I agree....the way Kong was shaking Ann around and pushing her over backwards would have killed her. In reality, she'd have had a lot of broken bones and mush for a brain. But hey....it's fantasy after all. :>D

As for Viggo? In my book, he can do no wrong. I love him in every film I've seen. And I think he's such a fascinating person.

So what is 'Electric Dreams' and 'Rover' about.

I like your lyric pick, where's it from?

(no subject)

Date: 2006-01-09 02:00 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sebastian-tombs.livejournal.com
The lyric is "A Horse in the Country" from Caution Horses, by my Cowboy Junkies.

'Electric Dreams' is an 80's movie about a geek who accidently gets his computer to be sentient, and how the two of them pine over Virginia Madsen.

Rover is the book I was posting about where the main character is a halfling librarian who has all sorts of adventures (not his idea, really), and is a fun fun time.
