So on Tuesday evening [livejournal.com profile] laraneia and I went to see The Greatest Showman. She loves musicals, and I'll watch petty much anything with Hugh Jackman. Plus one of the people on my Tumblr had been raving about it since its release in the US. I'm not the biggest fan of musicals, but I wasn't going to miss an opportunity to see a musical with Hugh Jackman on the big-screen.
I'd heard about this movie for a long time, and I knew that it was a passion project for Hugh, he's spent close to 8 years getting this movie made.
I still went in keeping my expectations low, but pretty much from the first lines of the first song I could just feel the love that had been put into this project. It's definitely a spectacle, but in the best way. I just loved it, the music, the acting, the costumes. It was also so obvious to see that the actors were having a good time, especially Hugh, as every smile seemed so genuine, like he was just so happy to finally be making this movie. I love that, I love when you can actually see that this is a movie they really wanted to be a part of. The movie is just magical.
I've been listening to the soundtrack on Spotify almost on a loop, and every time I think this is my favourite song, the next one starts and I change my mind. So yeah, if you like musicals and haven't seen this yet, go see it! Heck, go see it anyway, it's worth the trip to the cinema.

I need a new Wolverine icon. Heh. Might be some icon making in my future.

I'm still digesting the film, but the short story is that I loved it.

It's really brutal, so I was surprised that it only had a 15 rating here, but then, so did Deadpool, so I shouldn't be surprised. just makes me wonder what it takes for a movie to be rated 18.

Hugh, Patrick and Dafne really gave it their all and gave wonderful performances. It's very much the Wolverine movie I've been waiting for.

I can't wait to get my hands on the BluRay.

I was among the lucky ones to have X-Men Origins: Wolverine open in theatres last night. So here's the review.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is hitting cinemas around the globe, but will it live up to the standard set by Bryan Singer, or end up in the dumps with Brett Ratner’s X3?

Being a fan of the franchise I was really looking forward to another film, but after X-Men 3: The Last Stand I’ve learned to keep my expectations as low as possible, and I actually managed to enter the cinema without any big expectations.

I am surprised by the amount of negativity for this film, but I think the level of expectations has a lot to do with that; personally I just went to see a movie. And I had fun. There were a few small things that bothered me, some interactions, and maybe not enough time with one or two characters, and one scene featuring a sink that seems to have been put in for cheap laughs; they really could have left that scene out of the film.

There were worries about the inclusion of so many characters in the film, but I never felt that took anything away from the story, there’s really only one or two characters I felt got pushed aside. It was actually nice to see some new faces and learn something new about the familiar characters. This is helped a lot by the strong cast, the inclusion of so many characters could have easily have been overwhelming or just plain bad if the actors didn’t put their all into the few scenes they had. I found everyone’s effort to be top notch, and many new characters endeared themselves to me despite their short screen-time

Any continuity worries I had with regards to the X-Men films were snuffed out, save maybe one or two, but that’s nothing another movie or your imagination won’t take care off.

If nothing else you’re getting a good action kick, but I can’t help but hope that there would be an unrated, slightly bloodier, version when it comes out on DVD and BluRay, as some of the more violent scenes reminded you this is a PG-13 movie.
It’s hard to compare it to the previous films in the franchise, but one thing I can say for sure, it’s much better than X3. Considering all the aspects I will say that X2 still holds the top spot, but where Wolverine lands in comparison to the first X-Men movie is hard to say, go see it and make up your own mind.

Pictures of Hugh Jackman from Italian Vanity Fair.
WARNING: Ovaries may explode )

Hugh will be in the January edition of Empire as well. That's for the Wolverine movie though. Might have to shell out the money for the overpriced import and get that one. Unless any of the Brits on my flist would be willing to help me out? I will pay you!

Oh, and the first official Trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine will be attached to The Day the Earth Stood Still on December 12. They say it won't be released online until a few weeks later, but I'm hoping they won't wait to long.

I'm giddy.
Hugh Jackman was there.
With footage from the film.
I'm stuck in Norway. *sigh*
Wish I was there.
No trailer or video of trailer online, but lots of pictures.
Blurry pictures, but still pictures.
Me very happy.
Real trailer can't be to far behind. *hopes*

A new image of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine has appeared online. It is believed to have come from the upcoming issue of Empire magazine, which also includes interviews with Jackman himself and director Gavin Hood.

How the hell is it that 'The Fountain' didn't get any kind of serious awards or nominations!? Seriously!??
Looking over what they got it's sad...Hugh Jackman only got one nomination. I know I'm a fan, but he was amazing in this movie.
At least Clint Mansell was nominated for a Golden Globe for the score.
