How the hell is it that 'The Fountain' didn't get any kind of serious awards or nominations!? Seriously!??
Looking over what they got it's sad...Hugh Jackman only got one nomination. I know I'm a fan, but he was amazing in this movie.
At least Clint Mansell was nominated for a Golden Globe for the score.

Is it bad that I haven't even heard of that movie? It doesn't stand out for me.

Not really, I guess.
It's release date kept getting pushed back, and promotion for it was minimal, but it is a beautiful movie. Very heavy, but good.

I just think it's sad that all the strong performances and beauty of this film have been overlooked.

Hugh's way overdue for some film recognition. His time will come though.. I believe that. :)

Very sad movie though.. I felt so bad for him..

I hope so. He got a Golden Globe nomination for Kate and Leopold, but I would have loved to see him walk away with something for his work on this film. That scene after Izzi dies, and he's crying and starts stabbing his hand with the pen.. I was just blown away.

I agree, but I guess it depends on how you view the movie. I found it very helpful to watch it again. Especially after reading various theories from other people.

...the world of film is moving in the same direction as books--there are too many good books that never get published when there's some real crap out there!

I think you're right.
But I guess that's true with a lot of the creative things out in the world.
