Supernatural - 203
Oct. 14th, 2006 12:05 pmI thought I should get down my thoughts on the latest episode of "Supernatural". Spoilers behind the cut.
Supernatural - 203 - Bloodlust
I kind of understood that the hunted in the opening of this episode was the creature. I have no idea how I reached that conclusion, maybe because this one was done different than all the other openings in that we didn't really get a clue as to what the attacker was. And when he chopped the girls head off I was pretty sure there was another hunter in town. Awesome opening though.
And the Impala!! That opening was pure Metallicar-porn! Seriously, any rabid car enthusiast had to felt the effects of that scene! The music was just perfect for that scene as well!
It was a joy to see the car back though, and Dean happy, and all protective of his baby.
Dean: Woo... listen to her purr. Have you ever heard anything so sweet?
Sam: You know, if you two want to get a room, just let me know, Dean.
Dean: (to the car) Aww, don't listen to him, baby. He just doesn't understand.
I've never been a big fan of the type of filming they did there to show the car. The pimp-my-ride type shots, just to show off the car. But in this setting, I didn't mind at all, it worked, it's Dean's baby and I think the fans are just about as happy as he is to have it back.
And we got two costumes in one episode! Two! This is the fangirlie bit where I just have to squee over Dean in the Doctors outfit. How is it these boys can look so damn hot in about every thing they put on?
Okay, ahem. Back to the episode. Those scenes were funny as well. I just loved both the costume scenes.
Sheriff: What newspaper did you say you worked for?
Dean: World Weekly News.
Sam: Weekly World News.
Dean: World...
Sam: Weekly World News.
Dean: Wor... I'm new.
Sheriff: Get out of my office.
Awwww, boys.
And they way Dean quoted "The Silence of the Lambs" had me laughing like a crazy person. Seriously. The whole exchange between them in that scene was great though.
Sawmill, that's all I'm saying... sawmill.
This is my fave of the two Vampire centered episodes. I loved Amber Benson's character, she looked really good with black hair too btw. Anyway, I kind of would like to see Lenore pop up again at some point. That's 4 people from the Jossverse so far, and I'm loving it.
As for Eli, I think I was the only one who had a little squee when I saw him. Eli was portrayed by Ty Olsson, who is the guy Jensen Ackles kicked the crap out of in "Dark Angel: The Berrisford Agenda (#2.11)" he also had a role in "X2", he's the guy who Magneto sucks all the iron out of. So yeah, anything that will link me to other fandoms makes me very happy.
As for Gordon, I knew straight away something was up with that guy. He was one messed up S.O.B. And I hated him for taking advantage of Dean. I so wanted to kick that guy's ass. Though I'm pretty sure he'd cut my throat before I managed to punch him, but still... I loved the fight he had with Dean though. And when Dean bumped his head into the wall at the end. Lol. And when Dean hit him before they left, I cheered. However, I'm sure we'll see Gordon again, you don't cross a guy like that without it coming back to bite you in the ass.
I know many people drew parallels between Gordon and Gunn from Angel. It was one of the first thoughts that hit me too. I didn't really mind though.
And the moment which I'm sure made a thousand fic writers die of joy, or you know, just squee their way into a coma.
Dean: You alright, Sammy?
Sam: Yeah, I'm fine.
Gordon: Well, lighten up a little, Sammy.
Sam: He's the only one who gets to call me that.
It was good though. I loved that bit too. There were so many good bits in this episode.
Dean hitting Sam. I was sure they'd have a fight at some point in the season where punches would be thrown. I just didn't expect it this soon, which also leads me to believe it will happen again. I applaud Sam for not hitting back though, he knew where that hit came from, and I also think Sam knew that Dean would be sorry about it later.
At the end. I felt so sorry for Dean again. It's not like I never feel sorry for Sam, I do, it's just I feel he's doing better with the whole situation, so I tend to focus on Dean. I think it meant a lot to Sam that Dean thanked him for sticking around. They're both carrying around a lot of questions and doubt about everything right now, so they have to be there for eachother.
I have many thoughs, but those were the only ones I could access at the moment. Another great episode.

Date: 2006-10-14 08:09 pm (UTC)Lol, me neither. That was just awesome.
I liked Gordon's character too. I am sure hr'll be back. I think he might turn into a kind of Meg character that kepts messing things up for the boys or some such. I have no idea.
I was never a big fan of Gunn, I have to say.

Date: 2006-10-15 09:10 am (UTC)The first thing I thought was that he'd lost a lot of weight, at least since X2.

Date: 2006-10-15 12:27 am (UTC)As for Dean taking down Gordon, I'm of a staunch opinion that he should be given a chance to beat up people at least once a month. It's incredibly hot. Like, hotter than ususal, that is. I think the last time they let Dean fight with anyone in earnest was in 'Benders (loved that scene insanely, too). That's not nearly enough.
And the 'Ooops, sorry' head bump genuinely had me giggle.
I would really like for Lenore and Gordon to come back again sometime. Lenore might lend a helping hand on a hunt, which would blur the black/white line even nicer. Or they boys could be forced to kill her after it turns out that she wasn't able to supress her bloodlust after all and they would go all angsty that they could have saved loads of people if only they had killed her earlier. So many lovely possibilities. And how awesome it would be if the circumstances brought the Winchesters and Gordon on a job together again and they would have to cooperate in order to survive, all the time bottling up the distrust and resentment? A lot, I say.
Seriously the season is shaping up bloody fantastic.

Date: 2006-10-15 09:38 am (UTC)And yes, Dean should be alowed to beat up more people, I loved that in the Benders too, one of the reasons I like that episode so much. I do believe though that Dean will be doing more ass kicking this season, it's his way to vent his frustrations.
And the 'Ooops, sorry' head bump genuinely had me giggle.
Yes, I loved that.
If Lenore came back I would prefer if she helped the boys, if she turns evil it would kind of defeat what Dean learned in this episode. I think Gordon will become kind of a nemesis hunter type. Like I said I think he's gonna come back and try to get the boys.
It's great so far, I hope it keeps it up.

Date: 2006-10-15 06:41 pm (UTC)I agree that Lenore the Vampire helping the boys out would be a better option, but with Gordon I would be really delighted if they went the 'they hate each other but they are forced to work together, they kill the bad guy though the joined effort and they part their ways still hating each other's guts, but respectfully this time' way.
Btw, what are those four people from Jossverse? It might be my memory being defective or it's just that I'm not that well versed on the subject as I would like to be. I get Amber Benson and Julie Benz, but the others? Are you counting JDM here? So what about the fourth one?
(no subject)
Date: 2006-10-16 04:56 pm (UTC)I can see that option with Gordon, but I can also see them trying to sabotage eachother to get the kill.
Well, I didn't hink about JMD, I've not seen his Angel episode.
The ones I count are Amy Ackner, Julie Benz and Amber Benson.
I also count the guy who was the Demon in 'In My Time of Dying', he was in an episode of 'Firefly' and I have to count him since it was such a shortlived series.

Date: 2006-10-15 12:42 am (UTC)i realised there were three references to Silence of the Lambs in this one, in addition to the title itself! hee. :D
(no subject)
Date: 2006-10-15 09:39 am (UTC)The title is a reference? *draws a blank*
Well, Dean mentioned the title and the lotion and Ellen mantioned Hannibal, are those the onew you meant?

Date: 2006-10-15 02:54 am (UTC)The opening was good, and when he chopped her head off, very creepy and the way the body fell was so convincing.
I thought I was going to hate Sammy's hair, but I liked it, he looks so grown up. Let alone hot.
The 'Dean punching Sam' bit, I think shows just how confused and angry Dean is, enough to hit his own brother, who he has always done his best to protect.
And you're right on about the costumes. *drool*
(no subject)
Date: 2006-10-15 09:46 am (UTC)Yeah, that chop was very well done.
I liked Sammy's hair in this episode. Then again I haven't really been following his hair. I've been busy looking at other stuff. ;p

Very true, and nicely put. We all know where that punch really came from.
Gotta love the costumes.

Date: 2006-10-16 11:43 am (UTC)I read some fan comments talking about the hair change, and how he should've kept his shaggy cut. But I can say I like him like that. Goodness, he looks so damn good.

Thanks, :) Things are going to get very interesting, actually as you said, we're already seeing that shift.

Date: 2006-10-16 04:52 pm (UTC)I actually liked Sam's hair in this episode though, I think it suited him.
Looking forward to the development.

Sam: Yeah, I'm fine.

*DIES* I just had to do a shipper squee after Sam said that! =)
Dean is going to break down at some point this season, and I personally cannot wait for that to happen. :D

Date: 2006-10-15 09:48 am (UTC)I'm not a shipper, but I loved it anyway.

Me too. Like I've said before I'm not looking forward to him breaking, I'm just looking forward to the scene and watching Jensen perform that scene. Because I'm pretty sure it will tear is all apart.
