Guillermo Del Toro May Direct The Hobbit

The Hollywood Reporting is, well, reporting that Guillermo Del Toro is in talks to direct the two installments of The Hobbit.  Del Toro is certainly best known for his visually stunning and critically acclaimed film Pan's Labyrinth.  He is certainly a fantasy-centric director (he's also helmed both Hellboy films, the 2nd of which is due in theaters soon).

Out of the alternatives other than Peter himself, this might be one of the best IMHO.

You know, at first I was all "noooooo" but then (like you say), other than Peter I think Guillermo is a pretty good idea.

Compared to some of the other choices I think Guillermo will do a good job. After watching Pan's Labirynth I was convinced of that.

I would rather have Peter, but if he can't do it, I'll be okay with Guillermo.

I've had the noooo reaction to pretty much every name that has been dropped.
