The Eurovision Song Contest
May. 21st, 2006 12:18 amI don't think I've enjoyed this thing so much since I was a child!
FINLAND WON!!!
It was fucking amazing, I loved it! They did something totally different from the typical formula crap and it worked. I have to admit I'm totally hyped by the whole thing.
GO FINLAND!! YOU RULE!!! \m/
It had to be said though that Wig Wam kind of paved the way for them to enter though. ;)

Date: 2006-05-21 09:35 am (UTC)The Euro vision Song contest has been going on for over 50 years. It's only for Europe, the land who wins gets to host it the following year.
Anyway, each country send a artist and song to represent them. Mostly the upbeat and Abba type stuff have won, some ballads. If you've ever heard Kathrina and The Waves' Walking on Sunshine, I believe that was a winner one year.
It's a pretty big deal, rather competitive. Though, it has kine of turned in to a spectacle the last years, the female performers compete more about who can wear the skimpiest outfits than who's the better singer.
Kind of why I was so happy Finland won this year, as it was completely outside the norm.
Any more questions? ;)

It sounds like fun and I'd love to see it. Thanks very much for the explanation.

Date: 2006-05-23 01:52 pm (UTC)I don't know if it's on DVD, don't think so. That'd be 51 DVDs though so far if they decided to make them. Lol, should be available with your choice of commentator.
I know there are CDs floating around. Also If you go to any music downloading search engine and enter 'Eurovision' you'll probably end up with quite a few examples.
You're welcome. I'm not a big fan of the show anymore. Was much fun when I was younger and it was taken more seriously, but this year was fantastic.
