You can't take the sky from me.
Sep. 14th, 2006 10:31 pmI've just finished watching 'Serenity'. It was my fourth time watching it... yes, I know. Only four. *is ashamed*
Can you believe that a year ago we were all crazy with anticipation for this film? I can't even remember how many times I watched the trailer, or how many spoiler posts I hid from. When I went to the cinema to see this, hopes were high. And I was not dissapointed, I laughed, I cried (which is very rare for me), and just loved this film.
For those of you on my flist that haven't seen it, you really should. I've yet to meet someone who didn't like it.
The movie is a work of art, a labour of love. Joss Whedon put his heart and soul into this film, and it's one of the most well scripted, well shot and just visually beautiful films that has been released in recent years.
There's a reason it's on my top 5 list. ;)

An inside look at the movie 'Serenity'.
'Serenity' is the feature film version of the TV series "Firefly".

Date: 2006-09-16 04:59 pm (UTC)Out of curiosity, what are other positions in your top 5?
Unless, of course it's just a figure of speech, that, for one, I have a habit of using, even though the mere idea of putting all my favorite babies together into any coherent list gives my creeps. Oh boy, I can just imagine THAT dilemma. But that's just me, no order whatsoever to that damned brain of mine.
So if you actually have a list, could you perhaps share it with me? I'm positively intrigued.

Date: 2006-09-17 11:58 am (UTC)Anyway, Top 5 list is kind of a lie, as the list reall contains 8 movies, so I guess I'll have to say Top 5 movie series or something to that effect.
There's a lot of movies I love, but for some reasons thos movies have sneaked into a special place in my brain. It might not be the movies I watch most often, but it surely are the movies I consider to truly have something special.

Date: 2006-09-17 12:33 pm (UTC)There are other movies, recognized masterpieces, that, it might be argued, could be called the most brilliant movies in the history of cinema (I mean the Coppolas, the Scorseses, the Bergmans etc) but, somehow these are not movies that I'm compelled to watch over and over again. And every one on your list tempts me every time I hear them mentioned. That's how 'favorites' work.
Excellent choice.

Date: 2006-09-19 01:00 pm (UTC)It's nowhere near the complete list, just the ones that pop into my mind at this moment: 'Star Wars' original trilogy, 'Fight Club', 'Trainspotting', 'Snatch' and 'Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', 'Gladiator', 'Reservoir Dogs', 'The Proposition', 'Willow', 'Princess Bride'. You list fits there nicely, too. These movies I can watch over and over again,
