King Leonidas: This is Sparta!



I have to be honest, I'd expected to be bored out of my mind during this film. But everybody was talking about it, praising it, so I was curious. The trailer looked cool, but never impressed me much, so when I sat down in the cinema I just thought I was in for two hours of gore, mindless battles and men showing off their bodies.

It took a little while before I got into it. I was however at once liking the visual style of the film. It is a tricky thing to do, without claiming to much of the attention, but the color use worked well with the scenes, and I never found it distracting.

I was eventually fully drawn in to the story. Despite my usual lack of enjoyment for big battle scenes I enjoyed every one in this film. The fact that the battles were split up instead of being 45 straight minutes of battle was the main reason for that, also the way the battles were portrayed, slowed down for some parts, brutal in others, and some with narration. All filmmakers wanting to make a  movie featuring an epic-battle should watch this first and take notes, this is the way to do it!

The political side of the story kind of slowed things down, but I didn't mind as Queen Gorgo was such a strong character, and there was one scene where she had me cheering. 

All in all I was impressed by this film. Considering my expectations I was amazed. I'd recommend it to anybody, because it was awesome.

I am with you on this one, it really is a movie that you have to see at the movies. It was amazing. I really really enjoyed it and it just really seems to take you in at the movie theater.

Den var jo sinnsjukt kul då!
Held på å prøve å laste den ned no, spørs bare om det er ein bra vrs, men eg skal uansett ha den på DVD når den kommer.

Hvis det står "DVD screener" i tittelen på torrenten (hvis det er det du bruker da) så er den råbra kvalitet. ;)

Gleder meg så ille til DVDen kommer ut! Håper det er med bloopers på ekstra materialet, for jeg kan bare tenke meg hvor mye morro de hadde det på settet! :D

Hehe, ja, tenkte vel egentlig du hadde lasta den ned. Ikkje at eg har så mykje å sei, er enkelte filmar eg såg litt for mange gonger på kino. ;p

Det er noko DVD opplegg eg laste ned, så det er jo forhåpentligvis like bra kvalitet som den du har då. :D

Dei hadde jo set-diary på netter visstnok, så noko behind the scenes opplegg må det i det minste bli på oss. Men bloopers hadde jo og vert max kult.

This was such an awesome movie! I absolute love the Spartans and the story of Thermopylae, so I've been waiting MONTHS for this movie. :) I was dying for it since the first time I saw a trailer for it. I was kind of disappointed in some aspects of it, but mostly that was just the weird little historical inaccuracies added in to make it ZOMGCOOL. XD Overall it was really good and I'm definitely buying it when it comes out. Have you seen the trailer for the "PG version" on youtube? Go watch it here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNqiSkd1M6k). It's hilarious.

I honestly knew next to nothing about the story when I sat down to watch the film, but I knew this movie was based more on Frank Miller's comics than actual events.
I've seen the PG trailer, that was just weird. lol.

Oh, I can't wait for the DVD.

I loved 300 i have seen it 3 times and i was drawn in from the second it started. I mean it was amazing visually and it had a story that was worth paying attention to. Considering the mostly naked men did take a lot of the attention away from the plot but it was fantastic, i voted gerard butler and the guy who played stelios best bodies for sure.

Gerard Butler was awesome, if this doesn't get him some great gigs I don't know what will! It's hard to imagine that's the same guy that was in Phantom of the Opera.

I loved this movie too! I thought it was awesome! I was not really too much into the trailers that I saw either, but let me tell you when I saw the movie I loved it besides the fact that there were hot half naked men in it. Seriously a bonus and yes at one point I was cheering for the queen too! The one guy was a serious jerk and deserved what he got. All in all a great movie, I really do want to see it many more times. Plus, my hottie Rodrigo Santoro is in it. Yes, he is Xerxes!!!!
