SERENITY RED CARPET.
I didn’t think I was going to get to see anything at all
But I was lucky! When I got there, Summer Glau was on the red carpet. I managed to press myself a little bit forward, and I caught her on tape.
Suddenly I heard some screaming, and Nathan Fillion came down the red carpet. He did a little tour around the fans and then moved on to the media. Giving interviews and such.
Another screaming session and Joss Whedon showed up, he was really nice and went and said hello to all the fans hanging over the rails, I was a way back, but still managed to get his autograph, thanks to a very nice guy in the front who took my poster and got him to sign it. J He signed the wrong side of the poster though, but I don’t care. I got Joss’ autograph!!! J
Eventually Summer came back and took a round signing autographs, I didn’t get hers, but no biggie. I managed to capture all of them on tape, so am very happy about that.
After they all went inside I kind of hung around a little while, was kind of hoping to get my hand on one of those poster things that hang on the railings, but those disappeared far to quickly. On the up side, Joss and Summer came back out, they were obviously not staying to watch the movie. So I got to film them a little more.
After that I headed back to the house for cake. I can’t believe that I actually made it and got to see them, and least of all that I would be able to get an autograph. J Am very pleased.
I might want to post some clips of what I filmed, but that’s only if you guys are interested?
SERENITY REVIEW.

The movie was extremely intense. I was exhausted afterwards. Still feel like I haven’t been able to process everything that happened. The feeling I had after the movie was kind of like after I’d seen ROTK, I was exhausted and trying to sort through, there’s just so much happening.
The movie clocks in at about two hours, but it didn’t feel that long at all. In all honesty I felt it was too short, I wanted more. To me some pieces felt a bit fragmented, but I think that might be because the scene before was just setting in for me before the next one began. It’s a roller coaster of a film, and I was on the edge of my seat most of the time, had I been alone I would have been talking to the screen, cheering and screaming.
There were however some things that bugged me. The movie is glossier than the show was. While ‘Firefly’ had kind of a brownish tint, the film is more metallic and blue. It’s a little thing, but it also makes kind of a weird transition. It maybe didn’t help that I just finished my ‘Firefly’ marathon a few hours before I saw the movie. So If anybody else is planning to watch the show first, do it the week before you see the film, to get a little distance between the two.
Right now I like the series better than the film, but I am definitely going to watch the film again soon, just because I think it will help me to watch it while actually knowing what’s going to happen.
In short, I did really love the movie, but I think I am of the very few who also can understand really well the people that don’t like it. There’s a moment towards the end that caught me completely off guard, and it took me a long while to 'get over it'. However that might be something that non-browncoats won’t react to, and other browncoats saw coming. I dunno, that’s the main reason I want to see it again, because when I know that it’s coming I can maybe move on from it quicker. Hard to explain, but I’m trying to keep this review spoiler free. ;)
I loved the cast of this movie, Joss Whedon knows what he’s doing when he chooses his casts, they all work really well together, and I just adore every single member of the Serenity crew.
In short, everybody must go and see this movie, and make up their own mind. I’m going again soon, and will then hopefully be able to write a better review.
Go HERE for great interviews with the cast! :D (spoiler free)

Date: 2005-10-09 10:13 pm (UTC)Seems there's gonna be a direct flight from Kr.sand to London coming... when you ask? Summer 2006. In other words when I'm finished over here. How typical ain't that??
Might post a few clips later on.

Haven't been able to give it the necessary attention lately sadly, but am hoping It'll pick up.
Cool, will have to get that done one of these days them. Needs a little edit, so you don't get 'seasick' ;P

Date: 2005-10-10 02:42 am (UTC)I loved the movie, but I agree when you said you can see why some people wouldn't like it. I'm just too wrapped up in the shinyness of it to really care about the flaws, hehe.

Cool. I just have to edit it a bit, coz there are a couple of shaky bits. Might post it in the weekend at the soonest. :)

Date: 2005-10-10 06:24 pm (UTC)It is apparently a line that got cut wherein Mal responds to Inara's question as to whether or not he's wearing pants (the scene where she 'waves him).

Date: 2005-10-10 07:57 pm (UTC)I enjoyed your review and know exactly what you mean about the gloss. All I can say is go and see the movie again - the story is more coherent when you don't sit there in shock! And 20ft high Nathan is glorious.....

Date: 2005-10-11 07:38 pm (UTC)I was in shock for most of the film the last time, hehe.

Date: 2005-10-10 11:05 pm (UTC)I can see why Summer and Joss didn't stay around to watch the whole movie. Twice was enough for me for awhile. I loved it, but . . . there's only so much one person can take.

Date: 2005-10-11 07:08 pm (UTC)Yeah, it is rather intense, am going again at the end of the week, or sometime during next week. Just so I can take a step back and actually see the movie.
