Sometimes I feel like the American Film Industry needs a good kick in the balls.
Seriously, how fucking stupid can they be.

Guy Ritchie’s RocknRolla, starring Gerard Butler and Thandie Newton, is due for release by Warner Bros in October in the States. However, producer Joel Silver is out and about shopping it to studios such as Lionsgate and Sony Pictures. Why is this?
The
Los Angeles Times explains,
Silver was looking for a buyer for the film. People who’ve seen the film say it’s not bad at all. But as Warners goes through the arduous process of absorbing two dozen or so New Line films into its distribution system, the studio simply has too many movies to release, so it’s starting to pick out the weak calves from the herd.

If people say the film is not bad why is it considered one of the ‘weak calves’? Well the LA Times spoke with Warners chief Alan Horn, and he had this to say,
“I think it’s a well-made picture, but while it’s funny in spots, it’s very English,” he said. “I don’t think it’s broadly commercial. It feels like a film that deserves a spirited release, but not a wide one. Joel has an 800-screen deal, which we’ll honor, but we might not be willing to spend the marketing money he wants us to.”

So because the film is ‘very english’ Warner Bros don’t know how to go about marketing it and are therefore not willing to spend the money. Producer Joel Silver would rather get another studio to buy and release the film so that it can get a wider release, more than the 800 screens Warner Bros intend.
Being an English person I am a little disgruntled by the fact a movie is considered a ‘weak calf’ just because it is English. Are Gerard Butler and Thandie Newton not big enough actors in the States to promote a film? Or is this a case of the big movie studio thinking the American public won’t be interested in a film not set in America with American actors, when in fact they may be?

USA people give me your thoughts on RocknRolla! Below is the trailer to remind you how English it is:

In short, everybody must go and see this movie, and make up their own mind. I’m going again soon, and will then hopefully be able to write a better review.

Go HERE for great interviews with the cast! :D (spoiler free)

Elijah Wood and Hugh Jackman are doing a film together! :D

Sadly, it an animated film, so I can't enjoy both my guys on screen, but I'm still pretty exited. I don't care if it's a kiddie flick, I'm still goin'!

Elijah plays a penguin called Mumble. "Into the world of the Emperor Penguins, who find their soul mates through song, a penguin is born who cannot sing. But he can tap dance something fierce!"

The movie's called "Happy Feet" and is out next year. It also features the vocal talents of an all-star ensemble cast including Brittany Murphy, Robin Williams and Hugo Weaving. Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman play Mumble's mom and dad. George Miller ("Mad Max," "Babe") directed the project.

Interview with Elijah about the film HERE.

First of all, to the people who have requested icons off me. As I told you, you'll get them for christmas, as I have no access to the proper icon making tools right now. They should be up and ready for you on Christmas eve at the latest.

In other news: I'm going home tomorrow!!! YAY!

In other news, I got passing grades on my essays, and the teacher said that no one flunked the presentation part. My grades might not be praise worth, but I'm just happy as long as I pass. I have a great suck-fest of an essay to write over christmas, and really don't think I should be shooting for anything else than a pass, as I barely get the questions... think I need a break.

We were supposed to finish editing our film yesterday, but had complications in the last minutes so I have to go in after class today and finish it. Luckily, we won't be marked down for it as we were never told the correct way to save the stuff we lost.
I probably won't be in for more than 30 mins, is kind of a good bad thing, as it will kill the time waiting until I can go to bed tonight and get off home tomorrow.

Might hang out with Benedicte this afternoon, she wanted to go to Chinatown, am thinking the weather is looking bad, so will see if we can do something indoors.

Still haven't got payed for the video thing, there's a bunch of paperwork to be filled out and crap. And whe the woman who's supposed to help doesn't bother coming in I'll probably not get paid until next year at the rate this is going. Yesterday she was sick, I was in an hour ago asking for her, and they told me she'd call when she got in... that was at 0900... it is now 1007 and still nothing. England really is the land of paperwork and making shit complicated.

Right now the only thing I can focus on is going home, am so sick of this place right now... will write more when I get home.

I feel like crap, just feel like bitching a little. My body's aching, my throat is sore, my nose runny and I think my lungs wanna run away every time I cough. Am goin mad, I was just sick for cryin' out loud!
Am going to school tomorrow to film Camelia's exam. (she's doing a play.) That'll look great if the camera keeps jolting every time I cough. Ah, and on tuesday I have a 7 hour day. I'll have to push most of the work on my group mates, coz my concentration is shoot to hell. They'll manage, at least I'll be there.
I just want to go home now, am sick of everything!

Hope you're having fun tho. ;)
