Trips and Prison Break

Have had a quiet week really. Been surfing the net, getting caught up on some of my shows and just trying to get some stuff done.
Looks like I'm off to Oslo in November, really looking forward to it. Janki is looking into getting me tickets for 'Hair'. I hope I get to see it, would be so awesome to see him perform. I've never been a big musical fan, but this is different. If it doesn't work out I figure I'll try to contact Nina and we'll hang out or something.
So I finally got to see the season opener of "Prison Break". It was good, but I was also kind of dissapointed. I've always kind of seen this series as holding on to realism as well as they could. I mean if you remove all the close shaves and stuff that's just in there to be dramatic one can to some degree buy into it all. They do manage to hold the suspense all the way through, which is rare, and very well done.
Not much else happening really. Am kind of looking forward to going back to work. I've applied at a job at the airport, and am looking in to some other things that could hold me over until I get an actual movie/TV gig.
We're starting to pack some stuff. Looking for boxes and stuff. I'll have to go through all my stuff and see what I want to keep and if there's anything I can throw away. I hate this part.
My dad has been going through a lot of his stuff and has started selling a bunch of stuff online. Sad really, a lot of what he's selling has been in our family for a long time. It's not of any use anymore, so I get why he's selling it, but it's still kind of sad.
If you've been paying attention you'll have seen that I've been posting a lot of fan-art, mainly by request. So I'm keeping this open, if you have any requests, just ask. I'll make banners, headers, icons, wallpapers, soundbites, and caps. No problem.

First off, Veronica getting killed. To me that just removes the whole point of the sub plot in season 1. If that wasn't supposed to lead anywhere why even go there? Also if this Steadman guy is such a big problem for the Company, why not just kill him? Why leave the evidence like that? Now that they're screwed with regards to the President anyway why not just kill him?
One thing that has been bothering me for a long while too, why did Benjamin Miles "C-Note" Franklin want to escape? With regards to keeping the big secret from his family about where he's really been, breaking out of jail has to be one of the dumbest things ever. His wife seems like a smart girl, like someone who watches the news... that's all I'm saying.
And finally T-Bag and his sewered hand. Okay, making a rough timeline, they broke out of prison at about 19:00 if I'm not mistaken. The season finale is pretty much real time as far as I can figure, but I'm gonna say that T-Bag got his hand chopped off at about 21:00. The opening to season 2 seems to take place the morning after, so quite a few hours have passed before we see T-Bag again.
A. the pain alone should have knocked him out for a while.
B. He'd be bleeding a lot, I'm not talking Kill Bill bleeding here, but there would be a lot of blood.
C. I refuse to believe he'd be able to be running around the woods after that amount of blood loss.
D. There is no way in hell he'll be able to handle what the vet is going to do and stay concious.
E. There is no way the vet will be successful at his attempt to reattach the hand.
If T-bag survives much longer, or isn't caught soon an brougt to a real hospital the show will loose major points. I'm not even kidding. There are a lot of plot holes and such that I will accept in various shows, but considering what this show has been trying to do thus far the whole T-Bag situation is kind of wrecking that.
I still like the show, and will keep watching. It is one of the most well written with regards to the close shaves and drama, and keeping the exitement level high. I'll keep watching and hoping that it'll redeem these issues in some way. New episode tonight, so we'll see what happens. One thing that has been bothering me for a long while too, why did Benjamin Miles "C-Note" Franklin want to escape? Date: 2006-10-12 04:05 pm (UTC)You hit a perfect time to catch up on PB. With the baseball thing FOX is now doing, we won't see a new epiosde for two more weeks.
Don't worry your head with bad tv logic. It gives you nothing but growing annoyance. The suspension of disbelief, that's the way to go. And you better hang it somewhere high. I agree that with a show that takes pride in realism (though I think it takes way more pride than it should be taking - 'Prison Break', when presented with the old dilemma: entertainment or realism, has always wimped out on the second option so far) should be paying more attention to details, but, well, it's not that smooth.
C-Note has been bugging me from the very start. There's never been much sense in him escaping from prison. Well, now that there's a lot of money involved, he's got an extra incentive, but earlier he just wanted to do it for his family, which was just stupid. And C-Note is no lovesick dumbass like Sucre, he's an intelligent man, which makes it even more jarring. Not that it matters now, of course, with all the boys already on the lam. I guess you just have to get yourself some zen attitude and accept things as they are. It really works out for the best.
Why am I even telling you that? You already know that. You're tv pro like me.
Ok, I know it defeats all the purpose in the rant above, but poking fun at bad tv logic is always fun.
Wow, you are starting early with that packing business. Though I suppose it IS easier that way. And getting rid of the stuff is always hard. I do know it's a rational thing to do, but it reminds you that some part of your life is over. I mean it's good, you moved on, you don't need it anymore, but, damn, if it doesn't make you sad anyway. I feel for you there.

Date: 2006-10-12 07:44 pm (UTC)Well I'm following the norwegian TV shedule, so episode 2 is tonight. :) Will get to see it sometime before the next episode.
I can let a lot of stuff go, but when the show leaves what appears to be its own realm of relalism, I can't overlook the flaws. I can handle plot holes to some extent, but the whole T-Bag thing introduces a super human, which I just cannot buy.
Yeah, they do tend to focus on the entertainment rather than realism..
C-Note has been bugging me from the start too, I've just never really reviewed the show before. So I had to mention it.
As I remember he didn't have that long on his sentance either, so he's just totally screwed himself over.
Lol, jup, a TV-pro. Still working on that zen thing though. I have become a master at explaining plot holes though, however studpid the explanations are.
I tend to over-analyze things si you'll see more rants like this from me in the future.
Yeah, I think it's early too. I'd like to keep my denial a little longer. Am having a bad feeling this christmas will suck because of a high stress level. Might be a good idea to get packed as soon as possible.

Date: 2006-10-12 10:27 pm (UTC)Damn, I always forget that people might actually be watching tv shows on tv instead of downloading them illegally from the Net ;)
Yeah, the sudden lapses in logic tend to burn. At least they didn't have T-Bag's magic hand actually working. That would be just bad.
I love tv rants. The longer the better. You can be certain that when you rant about tv, I'm sure as hell reading.
Ouch, I can see how it might dampen the Christmas spirit a bit. Take heart, though. Don't let the beast get you.

Date: 2006-10-14 09:22 am (UTC)Well, I rarely do, but figured since my dad is watching it too, I might as well join him. We'll see, if it get's really exiting I might rush ahead.
If his hand worked I might have stopped watching... there's only so much I can take. Then again there's a bigger chance my dad'll stop watching than me, as I can take a lot more crazy happenings than he can.
Hehe, well like I said TV-rants happen here, movie rants too.
Yeah, well it's starting to look like my mom's had the same thought, because she's alreaded started packing and collecting boxes. We'll get there. :)
