The movie 'Slither' just looks so disgusting, but since [livejournal.com profile] beluga  has gotten me interested in zombie movies and Nathan Fillion is in it... I guess I'll have to watch it. "A small town is taken over by an alien plague, turning residents into zombies and all forms of mutant monsters." See the trailer HERE.

And for some 'brighter' news, some pics from the 'X-Men 3' set:

Bryan Singer was supposed to direct and co-write the film's script, but when he was given the offer to take over the problematic Superman Returns (2006) from Brett Ratner, he left the project, taking with him most of the production staff including composer and editor John Ottman, writers Mike Dougherty, Dan Harris, and production designer Guy Dyas among others. Layer Cake (2004) director Matthew Vaughn then stepped into the directors chair, overseeing the script and production, only to leave 9 weeks before filming, unable to commit to the year-long production schedule which would keep him away from his family in England. In an odd twist of fate, the previous Superman Returns (2006) director Brett Ratner filled the vacated position. Ironically, Ratner was also a contender to direct X-Men (2000) before Singer got the job.

From Sci-Fi Wire:

X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner told SCI FI Wire that a third movie in the Marvel Comics franchise is slated to begin filming in Vancouver, B.C., in June 2005, with a release date of May 2, 2006. "I just had a conversation with [director] Bryan [Singer] today," Shuler Donner said in an interview at the Saturn Awards in Los Angeles on May 5. "We just started to talk about what the possibilities are. We're pretty sure Wolverine's going to come back."

Shuler Donner added that she's going to push to add the new mutants Gambit and Beast this time around. "I'm dying to put Beast in," Shuler Donner said. "I tried to get Beast in the first one and the second one, but it was always too expensive. So, yeah, I'm really dying to get Beast in, and I'd love to get Gambit in, because he's such a cool guy. And there's some really good casting ideas for Gambit." She declined to say who was up for the role.

As for Halle Berry - the Oscar-winning actress who has said she's reluctant to return unless her character, Storm, has a lot more to do - Shuler Donner said, "I certainly hope so, because I love working with her. ... We would only write a big huge role for her, so she's right in that respect, and we would make sure that that would happen."

Donner also confirms that writing duo Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris (X2) will return to pen the third entry, which will focus at least somewhat around Jean Grey's (Famke Janssen) transformation into the powerful entity Dark Phoenix. Hit the link below to read it yourself!

COMICS CONTINUUM reported in detail on the panel featuring James Marsden (Cyclops), Tom DeSanto (X3 Producer), and Mike Dougherty (X3 Screenwriter) that was in Los Angeles and some interesting bits were revealed. DeSanto also gave his opions on the fate of Storm:

"Halle's part of the family. She's Storm. She's been there since day one. She's a great person and brings a lot to the role. My vote would be if we can't bring back someone from the cast, we just don't bring back the character."

Casting contracts for the third film have yet to be created, but are planned to be making rounds to cast/ crew members early next year.
