Wolverine VS. Gambit
Sep. 14th, 2003 03:26 pmI've been to a few discussion boards where they keep complaining that Wolverine gets too much screen time in the movies, and how sad they are because Gambit's cameo got cut.
I liked both these characters very much, they are pretty much my favourites, but I have another view to the whole thing:
I didn't think Wolverine got as much screen time in X2 as in X-Men in spite the fact that X2 was built up around his past. But this might just be me. Wolverine is after all my fave, so I have another point of view that the people who have other faves.
As for the whole Gambit-cameo, I must be the only one that's thrilled that they cut it. Now don't get me wrong, I would love to see Gambit in the movies, but give the guy a propper introduction!
Now, this is a possibility for how they could do this:
We know that Wolverine is staying in the mansion and that X3 will probably be "the Phoenix saga". So I would like it to end with Jean giving Logan the final message that she has no interest for him. (I know she kind of did this in X2, but I have a point.) He then leaves at the end of the movie to give her space, and maybe the professor gave him another clue...
Then they can make X4 (this absolutely kills me to say,) without any Wolverine what so ever. Then they can give Gambit a propper introduction and a real amount of screen time. And then the fans will get a new love triangle to get into. :p
By X5 (hopefully we'll get this far) Hugh Jackman will have been replaced by another actor, so then they can have the new guy playing him come in.
Just a little thought. I doubt the Gambit fans will want to wait until X4 for Gambit, but with the way they're going I think it would be the best way to go.

Why are we waiting..why are we waiting...
Date: 2003-09-15 01:31 pm (UTC)But as for a X4.. Nah, believe in a possible future spin-off tv series more than a fourth movie from Brian Singer.
Wolverine rocks!! (Gambit is no1 of course.. but while I'm waiting..)
xx
Re: Why are we waiting..why are we waiting...
Date: 2003-09-17 12:34 pm (UTC)But Wolverine is my number one!
Also, the people behind the "X-Men" movies say that they want it to become a movie-series like "James Bond". Personally, I would love that.
Re: Why are we waiting..why are we waiting...
They can easily keep a movie series going with all the characters and storylines IMO.
Re: Why are we waiting..why are we waiting...
Date: 2003-09-18 11:01 pm (UTC)3 years is too friggin long, but I would rather let them spend 3 years and coming up with a great result, as supposed to giving them one year and then receiving crap. "Rush a torture, ruin a torture." :P

Date: 2003-09-24 10:58 pm (UTC)There were two "mad for tv" characters; Refrax & Buff, and then there was Jubilee, White Queen, Banshee, Skin, Mondo, and one that I can't remeber right now.
It was just a TV-movie, it was actually supposed to be a pilot for the show, but it never got picked up. And now they've made "X-Men: Evolution" instead.
But I would love a "X-Men" Tv-series if they could do it right!
Re: Why are we waiting..why are we waiting...
Date: 2003-09-27 06:02 am (UTC)It's nice to have the toon around to watch, but live-action would be too cool. I'd be kinda surprised if they didn't attempt to make some money that way. I think maybe that pilot flopped cuz there wasn't enough people who knew about it. The movies *really* made a lot more fans.. and now they would have a bigger audience.
Re: Why are we waiting..why are we waiting...
Date: 2003-09-29 10:26 am (UTC)You'd probably find "Generation X" on ebay. But the thing is that all the vrs sold there are copies, cos it was never released on video or anything, just for TV. But you can get your hands on it.
It's not too bad actually, but the bad-guy got on my nerves, he was like Jim Carrey on speed! Oh, and White Queens wig was just terrible, but other that that it's an ok movie, but far from anything you'd be willing to pay high prices for.
Maybe we should start a petition for a Tv-show?
Re: Why are we waiting..why are we waiting...
Yea I won't kill myself over gettin Gen X.. just curious to check it out. I did see a website on it and was surprised that Finola Hughes played Emma! Maybe cuz of the accent or something. Ah well, maybe one day i'll come across it. I have a friend who digs Emma cuz she kinda resembles her and has a 'tude too! Would be very cool if she does end up in a future movie. Not too many blonde comic ladies out there huh?
Yes write up that petition!! C'mon people..
Re: Why are we waiting..why are we waiting...
Date: 2003-09-30 12:17 pm (UTC)Gen X isn't worth the hassle, but I would keep an eye open for it on the telly. Seems like it popping up someplaces.
You could always check it out on IMdb.
I thoght Finola as Emma was just wierd... she wouldn't be my first choice for that part!

Date: 2003-09-18 07:45 pm (UTC)Yea it's tough..I love Wolvie and even though he's gotten the most screentime, I still want more more more! yes, i'm greedy. ;> But I really do want to see the other characters. Both movies I left craving more. I have a feeling they'll be putting Gambit and Beast in the next one. Even if just as a smaller part. Maybe for fear that fans will hunt them down if they don't.. lol. The introduction is the tricky part though, I dunno. But I can see them making a love triangle with Gambit, Rogue, and Bobby. But who to play him??! Hmmm..
I'd be cool with Wolv getting a solo gig too.. just gotta have my fix one way or the other.:P And I can't imagine anyone else playing him.. noooo:(
Anyone read the X2 novel? Such a shame so many cool parts couldn't be included. Don't know why they couldn't let Jubilee show off *some* of her powers.

Date: 2003-09-18 11:05 pm (UTC)Hmm, two hours for an X-Men movie is too short, I don't want it to end, love these movies. Am runnig to the store the day they release the X2 DVD!
Haven't read the comic, it was waaaay to expensive for me, will have a look again later. Also I've heard about the cut stuff... they should have waited until after the movie, then released a full-vrs of the book.

Date: 2003-09-22 09:50 pm (UTC)I got the book luckily for my b-day recently.. it's so cool to read extra stuff. It's not the comic though, but a novel of the movie. Kinda cool to get inside the characters heads.. :)

Re: Wolverine fans rejoice!
Date: 2003-11-05 05:23 pm (UTC)Thought i'd have to wait til next year, so i'm so glad! I do love the first one, but i've worn it out... lol. Looking forward to the extras too.. hope they have more bloopers!
Re: Wolverine fans rejoice!
Date: 2003-11-05 08:26 pm (UTC)Used a small fortune getting the DVD from the states, when it was first released, it was either that or wait another month.
And then I bought the 1.5 one. I'm a rabid fan, can't help it, have watched it waaaay to many times, so it's gonna be good to get something new, can't wait until Monday... 5 days to go. :)

Re: Wolverine fans rejoice!
Date: 2003-11-07 11:15 am (UTC)Yeah, I went a little crazy with the "X-Men" DVD, that's actually the only one I've got two versions off, I usually sell off one version if I buy a new one, but they're both so cool that I just couldn't do that.
Re: Wolverine fans rejoice!
Date: 2003-11-07 07:06 pm (UTC)Well x-men does have that effect on us.. hee!
Re: Wolverine fans rejoice!
Date: 2003-11-08 11:58 pm (UTC)Must admit that I'm a sick puppy... bought dog-tags last year and wore them when we went to see "X2". A little sad, but I had fun with it. :)
