roguem: (X-Men - Wolverine claws What now)

Sometime back in August 2006 I asked which icons to make next, X3 won the poll, and now I've finally managed to be productive enough to post them, so enjoy!

All the cuts lead back to my icon journal, [personal profile] mukkianglia.

It's cut up into four parts which you can find HERE.

I've found more pictures from X3!
Enjoy! In here )

The picture of Pyro makes me happy, looks like Ratner is keeping a few things from the previous films, and that little thing somehow means a lot. :)

Matthew Vaughn Helming X-Men 3!!!
Ain't-It-Cool-News has confirmed that Layer Cake director Matthew Vaughn will direct X-Men 3 for 20th Century Fox. Bryan Singer directed the first two films of the franchise and is now shooting Superman.
The anticipated third film is expected to center on the Dark Phoenix saga. Both Simon Kinberg and Zak Penn wrote scripts, but the site says the studio will use Penn's draft for the movie.
In related news, while Hugh Jackman (who is also producing), Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming and more are all coming back, Halle Berry still isn't sure. She tells XMenFilms.net:
I have not read the script. All I have asked, is that if I come back as Storm, she need to be closer to the comic book. So, if they have in fact written her closer to the comic book character, then I'm in. If not, I'm out. I hope I'm in though. I love Storm, and really want to be part of the last film.
Fox and Marvel Studios are eyeing a Memorial Day, 2006 release date for X-Men 3.

The following scoop was recently sent into Aint It Cool News, who claim that their secondary sources seem to support this rumor's validity:
Talked to an old friend back in Vancouver BC who I went to high school with and haven't spoken to in a few years. He called on a completely unrelated matter and we just started yaking and catching up.He owns a metal supply shop and has supplied metal and crews to a few movie and TV productions in the Vancouver area including X-Men 2.
He indicated to me that he's already signed the contract to do the same for X-Men 3 and then mentioned the contract would carry over to X-Men 4 which would film back to back with #3.
Wow! Could this be related to the Phoenix storyline hinted at the climax of X2? Hopefully we'll know soon enough!

Was just bored, and thought I might as well update my journal.

Had [livejournal.com profile] beluga over tonight, we just talked and saw Swordfish. Can someone please explain to me why they don't like this movie? I get that it's not the greatest movie in the world, but what I don't really get is the full-on resistance it has received.
A friend of me said he was disappointed that the big bang was in the beginning of the movie, now I must admit that the beginning monologue and the explosion had sucked me straight in the first time I saw the movie, but I also like how it plays out.
Some might say that it was released at a poor time, few days before 9-11, but I think the questions raised by this movie has become more and more relevant in the latter years.
People have a right to their opinions, and I'm not gonna go on a crusade about this. My point is that I like this movie, and that it gets me thinking.

"Not everything ends the way you think it should."

Now, on to the silliness:

Quizzies! )

Elijah's song! )

Prank Call! )

LOTR Dating Manual! )

Ok, that'll have to be it for today, still not tired tho. I'll just go read.

James Marsden spoke to DIRECT TV GUIDE about his possible future in the X-Men films. He also confirms that he is not yet signed for an X3:
"Hopefully with the loss of Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) in the second film and her potential return as a different character (the evil Dark Phoenix), we might be able to delve into the emotional side of Cyclops a bit more. I'm not signed yet for X3. I've recieved word that they're interested in having me in X3, and I'd be very happy to be a part of it."

I know many people hate the idea of bringing Cyclops more in to the spotlight, but I think it could work if they brought forth some of his past as well...

I've been to a few discussion boards where they keep complaining that Wolverine gets too much screen time in the movies, and how sad they are because Gambit's cameo got cut.

I liked both these characters very much, they are pretty much my favourites, but I have another view to the whole thing:

I didn't think Wolverine got as much screen time in X2 as in X-Men in spite the fact that X2 was built up around his past. But this might just be me. Wolverine is after all my fave, so I have another point of view that the people who have other faves.
As for the whole Gambit-cameo, I must be the only one that's thrilled that they cut it. Now don't get me wrong, I would love to see Gambit in the movies, but give the guy a propper introduction!

Now, this is a possibility for how they could do this:
We know that Wolverine is staying in the mansion and that X3 will probably be "the Phoenix saga". So I would like it to end with Jean giving Logan the final message that she has no interest for him. (I know she kind of did this in X2, but I have a point.) He then leaves at the end of the movie to give her space, and maybe the professor gave him another clue...
Then they can make X4 (this absolutely kills me to say,) without any Wolverine what so ever. Then they can give Gambit a propper introduction and a real amount of screen time. And then the fans will get a new love triangle to get into. :p
By X5 (hopefully we'll get this far) Hugh Jackman will have been replaced by another actor, so then they can have the new guy playing him come in.

Just a little thought. I doubt the Gambit fans will want to wait until X4 for Gambit, but with the way they're going I think it would be the best way to go.
