The WB's Supernatural and Smallville will get new seasons on the new CW network this fall, which will combine The WB with UPN, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It will be the second season for Supernatural, starring Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as two brothers who hunt supernatural bad guys. Smallville, starring Tom Welling as the young Clark Kent/Superman, begins its sixth season in the fall. The CW is expected to announce its schedule later this week, along with parent company CBS. UPN's cult favorite series Veronica Mars is also expected to make the new CW lineup, getting a renewal for a third season.

 

I'm still waiting to hear the official word from the CW, but this really is a sure thing.

Ain't-It-Cool-News has confirmed that Layer Cake director Matthew Vaughn will direct X-Men 3 for 20th Century Fox. Bryan Singer directed the first two films of the franchise and is now shooting Superman.
The anticipated third film is expected to center on the Dark Phoenix saga. Both Simon Kinberg and Zak Penn wrote scripts, but the site says the studio will use Penn's draft for the movie.
In related news, while Hugh Jackman (who is also producing), Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming and more are all coming back, Halle Berry still isn't sure. She tells XMenFilms.net:
I have not read the script. All I have asked, is that if I come back as Storm, she need to be closer to the comic book. So, if they have in fact written her closer to the comic book character, then I'm in. If not, I'm out. I hope I'm in though. I love Storm, and really want to be part of the last film.
Fox and Marvel Studios are eyeing a Memorial Day, 2006 release date for X-Men 3.

Christopher Reeve, the star of Superman, whose later riding accident made him a worldwide spokesman for spinal cord research, died Sunday of heart failure in Mount Kisco, New York. He was 52.

Bryan Singer has signed on to direct the next Superman flick, and taken his scriptwriters with him. As both X3 and superman will be released about the same time, I very much doubt he'll do X3.. the formula has been messed with.
