Camelia is at church today, and later she’ll be at a museum with some music guy she met on Monday. So I’ll be alone today, that’s ok, am still feeling sick so I’m just relaxing and trying to get better so I can go to school Tuesday! I was at school on Thursday, but that was a short day.
Yesterday Camelia and I went in to Piccadilly Circus in the hope that they had started selling tickets for the “
RotK” premiere, but no. The girl at the counter said that we would have to wait another week, maybe even two. Camelia got a little pissed and started swearing in Norwegian. The poor girl behind the counter just said that she was waiting as well, and gave us two numbers to call, so next time we can be sure that we’ll be sure we get tickets. I’m not gonna lie, I was pissed, but part of me knew that it would just be too easy if we got ‘em yesterday. I’m not givin’ up tho.
Friday was quiet day; we were just a quick trip in the shops to buy some provisions before we spent the rest of the day in our beds watching telly. In the evening Camelia went to a house-warming party for some guys that lived her earlier this year. I didn’t go cos I never really got to know them and I just didn’t feel well enough. I doubt I would have gone anyway, I’m not a big party person and going to a place where I barely know anyone isn’t my cup of tea.
Anyway, Camelia was very pleased with the party… she had spent the first half of the evening with one guy. And the other half on the lap of another… She’s been feeling down, thinking nobody was interested in her and then she gets two in one evening. She said she didn’t do anything. I gotta admit I’m critical of the other guy, cos he supposedly has a girl-friend and is apparently very self-involved, if I’m gonna believe some of the thing I’ve heard. Well, enough about that, Camelia is old enough to make up her own mind. (I just want the best for her. I worry, that’s what I always do with my friends.)
On Thursday I was at school, as I have written above. I saw “
The Sweet Hereafter”. It’s about a little town that experiences a terrible bus-crash, where most of the children of the town die. And then there is a lawyer (
Ian Holm) that wants to sue on the behalf of the grieving families.
It was a good film, even though I was left with a great deal of questions at the end, but this was one of those slow movies where you have to think about what happens and why people do what they do. There was one scene that freaked me out a bit because the image was so powerful. I’ll just describe the image: The face of a two-three year old girl is looking straight into the camera. The point of view is her fathers looking down at his little daughter, and in his hand,
right besides the girls head we see a small scalpel looking knife. He’s holding thins knife, prepared to cut a hole in her throat in case they don’t get to the hospital in time, and the girl stops breathing. That image is just terrible, especially when you have the father’s voice over explaining what he had to do. I recommend this movie if you’re in the mood for a thinker, but it is a slow movie, and leaves you with questions.
Next weekend Camelia and I are going to Hull to visit my mom’s aunt and uncle. Really looking forward to it. They are moving to Poland after Christmas, so this will be my last chance to see them before they leave. There’s also talk of taking a quick trip to York while we’re there, but we’ll see what the time allows.
Am really looking forward to going home now as well. 3 weeks and 5 days to go… 26 days in all! It’s also a little frightening with the countdown, because I see I see my school-deadlines closing in as well. But I’ll manage. Am just really looking forward to going home. I miss my friends, my family, my dog and my house! I love it here, but I just miss them really much right now. Luckily I’ll have a long Christmas break: from 19.12-03 till 09.02-04. I just have to go back to London for three or four days in between that to have an exam, and hand in some papers. I can’t complain about that! It’ll be lovely, even though Christmas will be spent writing papers and reading for my exam, but after I’ve handed them in, in January, I’ll just relax and prepare for next year. And of course spend time with my friends and family.
