Got home last Friday evening, as you probably have noticed by now. Not feeling to sure about the exams, but there's nothing to do but wait, and possibly take them again.

Was pretty knackered when I finally got back home, my parents were at the neighbours house. [livejournal.com profile] isil80  (formerly Isen) and [livejournal.com profile] beluga  were waiting for me, only I didn't know they were in the house, so they jumped out and scared the begesus out of me. EVIL!! We just took it easy, saw Shaun of the Dead, which I love. It's bloody brilliant! And now that I discovered that Dylan Moran is the guy playing David, just made Black Books that much better. We saw the second season of Black Books, loved it. Have found that any episode where Bernard is making food or mixing something while going mental is responsible for some of the best moments on the show. After all that [livejournal.com profile] isil80 and [livejournal.com profile] beluga ended up sleeping over, we just talked crap and watched telly.

[livejournal.com profile] beluga  returned in the evening. We watched two episodes of Goodness Gracious Me,[livejournal.com profile] beluga  and I sat chatting, finally put on Sugar & Spice, it's a extremely simple movie, but I just love the concept of a bunch of cheerleaders robbing a bank. We ended the evening with watching Episode 9 of LOST. She stayed over again.

Sunday was an even lazier day,  if you can imagine that. Watched Plunkett & Macleane, which was kind of weird, but I liked it. We also saw the first three episodes of Coupling. I love that show. Geoff is SO funny. After [livejournal.com profile] beluga  left I was online, helped Isen ake a LiveJournal, she is now [livejournal.com profile] isil80 , as I have already mentioned.

Had a totally bizarre experience on Monday. Was in my car waiting for the light to turn green, when suddenly the car in front of me starts backing up. The guy obviously didn't bother to look back to check if he had any cars behind him because he drove right into me. Stupid git. I pushed my horn, what did the guy do, he drove into the next lane and away. There was no damage on my car, but nobody expects someone to back into them like that. If I'd had my wits about me I'd written down his licence plate and reported him.

Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] beluga and I watched episodes 10-12 of LOST, have just gotten episode 13  and started working on nr. 14. The show is strangely addictive, even though there is a story line going on right now that is testing my patience. We also found out who did the trailer track for the Sin City trailer, They're called The Servant, and I'm liking their music. Cells is the song that's on the trailer.

Think those are the headlines for now. Not much exitement, but I'm home to relax, not go bungee jumping. :)

OH! Almost forgot Alan Cumming is coming to Collectormania in the April/May weekend! I'm gonna meet Nightcrawler! Yay!

Had a nice evening with the girls yesterday. I wasn't feeling a 100% coz I'd got my period. Luckily I wasn't totally messed up, and the painkillers seemed to work.

[livejournal.com profile] beluga  is doggie sitting, so we joined her for the evening. We didn’t really do much, just chatted and reminisced about old songs, sung a couple, even though I can’t sing. :p Ended up turning on CD’s instead.

Saw J.C. Chavez on Top of the Pops, I was let down… that boy has a strong voice, why doesn’t he use it?

Anyway, we watched a little telly as well. I don’t remember much else. I always get a bit groggy when I have my period. I got home late. Got rather sick. Don’t think I slept more than a total of two hours last night. Pain killers wouldn’t work… and still won’t. Trying to focus on other stuff.

Anyways, over to more positive stuff:

The case of the missing battery. )

Old birthday cards. )

Pirates of the Caribbean, second viewing. )

Think that's it for today. Am leaving for Germany on Wednesday, [livejournal.com profile] beluga  will be joining us. Will be muchly fun. :)

I went to see "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" on Sunday with three friends, they all loved it. Here's my Review:

This movie is quite entertaining and actually well scripted for a Disney-pirate-movie.
The plot is simple; a young blacksmith, Will Turner, (Bloom) is forced to join forces with the pirate Jack Sparrow (Depp) after his love interest, Elizabeth Swann, (Knightley) is abducted by a band of ruthless, ghostly pirates, commanded by Captain Barbossa (Rush).
In addition we have miss Swann's father; Governor Weatherby Swann (Pryce), and the man that wants to marry her; Commodore Norrington (Davenport).

I actually thought the movie was a bit too long, there were times under some of the fighting scenes where I just wanted them to finish. (And this is coming from a girl that loves action movies). The action scenes are engaging non the less, the set design is elaborate, visual effects are great, the performances are great, except for one or two. I also enjoyed the humor in this film, it didn't make me laugh hysterically, but kept me amused and interested, but most of the credit goes to Johnny Depp for that one.

Now that I've had two days to think about it, I think the things that bugged me most was that I felt the movie was a bit too long, they kept going back and forth, maybe one time too many.

Now over to the performance ratings.

Johnny Depp is brilliant as always in the role of Captain Jack Sparrow. Sometimes it seems like he doesn't even have to try when he's acting. I wasn't watching this movie comparing him to previous roles, because he WAS Captain Jack Sparrow.

Orlando Bloom... wait.. *builds a fortress with the highest and most elaborate security available, to keep out Bloomettes*. I'm sorry to say that I don't even think Bloom tried to get into his part in this movie. Granted, he's supposed to be a careful young man, but... ah... I didn't really care about his character. There's one scene in this movie where he's angry and hits the table with his fist. All I have to say to that is that even I could have hit that table harder. My friend, who is a rabid Bloom fan, even had to admit that he could have done better.

I think Keira Knightley did a wonderful job, and I liked her character. I'm so sick of the hysterical whimpering women in this kind of movies, so it was so nice to see a woman with brains and courage. Though after the movie a couple of people said they thought she was too smart for a woman of that time, I don't.

Geoffrey Rush is another one on the main cast list I know could have done a better job. Now don't get me wrong, he did a good job, but I know he could do better. I mean he's a big bad ghost pirate, but I didn't find him intimidating, at all.

Jack Davenport, who some might know from the BBC-show "Coupling", plays Commodore Norrington. I have to admit that when he first showed up on screen I started laughing, but I don't think he deserved that. He did a really good job with the little screen time he had. There was only one time he had that semi-desperate-Steve-face and I half expected him to shout "Susan!", or in this case "Elisabeth!". The fact is that I really liked his character toward the end and had sympathy for him.

In closing I will admit that I'll probably buy this movie when it's released on DVD, but I wont be attacking the sales clerk if they're sold out the day I'm there. I might even be waiting until the price drops a bit. I'll recommend the movie to the people that like these kinds of movies, and the rabid fan girls out there, because it is worth the trip to the cinema. Enjoy me 'arties!
