I'm still alive..
Aug. 2nd, 2004 07:39 pm...though barely.
Am exhausted... went to bed before 22.00 yesterday! Hello! I'm young, this shouldn't happen.
Don't really have too many days left at work now, so am looking forward to some downtime.
Was at the cinema with Isen on Thursday, saw "Ella Enchanted". Was a simple film, but very sweet. I like movies like this that mock fairy tales, but are still able to keep the fairy tale element. Will be a nice flick to have if I can't spend eight hours watching "The 10th Kingdom".
Got a card from
beluga today, very nice to hear from her. Seems like she's doing great.
Mom and the kid left on Wednesday evening, mom's coming home in two days. Seems like she's had a good time as well.
Don't really know if I have much more to write, am working my butt off. Actually had a costumer from Australia today! Love that accent.

The Internett has been dead
May. 16th, 2004 12:54 amI know I haven't been updating my Lj lately, but there hasn't really been that much happening lately. Have finally finished my Film History Essay, hoping I'll at least pass. :P Now I have two minor essay's and an exam and I'll be finished with my first year. Really looking forward to some down-time, I feel really weak and tired lately, so I'm hoping I can keep my strength up for the final haul.
I've chosen my subjects for next year, if I get the subjects I want, I'll have to go to school four times a week before xmas, and once a week after christmas. Funky timetable, but I'm thinking it'll be good with stuff to do before xmas, so hopefully it'll go faster. After xmas I'll use my days off constructively, maybe use Ryan-Air to visit some relatives, tickets to Germany and Poland are cheap if I get a good deal. Will probably go home more often as well to be honest, just have to see what time will allow.
On Sunday I went a quick trip to Stanstead to say hi to dad, he was heading home from Rome, and had to wait there for a couple of hours. I didn't tell him I was coming, so it was a nice surprise. Sounded like he had a great time in Rome, I wanna go one day. Was nice to see him again, even though it's not too long until I go back home. :)
In the evening I was downstairs, Jan Christian and Solbjørg visited the house. Always fun to hear what they have to tell. :) They're going to New York this summer to see Hugh Jackman on Broadway in "Boy from Oz". I am sooo jealous! I told Jan Christian that I want all the details when I come back for my fall-term. He was nice enough to guide me toward some pages online where I could see some clips of Hugh in action.
Other than that I haven't done much really... am just counting the days until I can go home... 9.

That is what I was ready to post in my journal on Wednesday, but some virus had infected the main computer, so the internett access shut down, again. Which leads to a double post within the same post. :P
Wednesday evening was the big semi finals in the Euro Vision song contest, it was rather horrific sight. Was very little I liked to be honest, some things I thought was kind of original or even good, but it didn't have the right feel. If this is what we can expect from the 14 countries already in the final, it might be worth watching just to see what silly gimmicks some of the artists come up with.
I'm not really a fan of the Euro Vision song contest, but for now it was fun just to hang out with the other people in the house and spoof the artists.
On thursday I had a really long day at school, doesn't help that we're finished in my eyes, but can't really do anything about it until next week. In the meantime, I have to fix stuff with my module choices for next year. The registry is on the day I fly home, so I have to fix it in advance.
Thursday evening I went to a local restaurant with Linn, Soma and Camelia. I was really nice, and there was very good food. I ate a big lasagna, so now all the people that have been wiggin' about me loosing weight can take a breather. The evening was fun, we just took it easy, enjoyed our food and talked. Most enjoyable. :)
Still countig the days until I can go home... 7.
---------------------------
A little addition... had a quiet day yesterday. Had a little walk around... think I'm getting the cold again, am just happy I'm heading home soon.
This evening I saw the Euro Vision Song contest, can't fucking believe Greece got third place! Come on! Anyway, was fun. The staff here had made little quizzes and such. I actually won three chocolate bars, who-ho! Kind of funny since I was just guessing wildly.
Now the net is finally back, so I'm hoping to get some work done.
In six days at this time, I'll be home. :)

Back home.
Apr. 19th, 2004 10:56 pmNot much happened after my post yesterday. We put some stuff in the car and made ready for the trip. Beluga and I took the dog for a walk, by the time we got back everybody had gone to bed. We made ready for bed as well, watched "Sharpe's Battle" before we went to sleep. Was good.
Got up at 4 a.m. this morning and got on our way. Was a long drive, but we both slept most of the way. We arrived early in Denmark, some hours before the boat was going to leave. Had a little look around, eventually we got on board the boat. The trip went well this time, small waves and no puking. :)
Finally got home at about 9 p.m. I drove Beluga back to her place. When I got back I just unpacked and took it easy. Am really tired, but can't sleep. G'd night!

Apr. 18th, 2004 07:29 pmThe story continues... after my last post, yesterday, Beluga came back looking really great. She'd had some highlights put in her hair, and cut it a little. Two thumbs up! :)
We took it easy, went to the local mall before they closed, sent some post-cards. I spent about 12 Euro in Woolsworth, not sure what I bought though, a bra and some scissors, plus some chocolate. Then I went to the store and spent about 12 Euro on German potato chips, I know that's much! But it's so gooood! I would have spent that amount at home sooner or later anyway. ;)
The rest of the day we took it easy. Beluga decided she wanted to watch "Desperado", so I joined her. I didn't really like that movie before either, appreciate it more, now that I've seen "El Mariachi". Kind of curious about "Once upon a time in Mexico", even though everybody I've talked to says it sucks.
When that was finished I said i wanted more action, so we watched "The Replacement Killers", which was so flawed that even a five year old could have spotted the big mistake! We spent the last 20 minutes of it, just mocking everything going on.
We had a little break after that, checked the news online and read a bit. When the parental units eventually went to bed, Beluga and I watched "The Cell". It was special to say the least, kind of funky. The story is very simple, but the visual effects are really good. Lots of good imagery.
This morning we got up early, as usual. Beluga, dad, my aunt, uncle and I went to Flo-markt and had another look around. It was much better this time. Lots to see, lot of junk, but some good stuff among the lot. Beluga found a cool (fake) leather jacket which looked really good. She got it for 5 Euro, she was cold, and needed a jacket, so why not? :) About 5 mins later we found another one, but this one was longer, looked kind of Matrixy. I got it for 5 Euro, I was cold too, plus it fit me rather well. :) Now I just need some dark clothes and sunglasses and I can fly through computer programs. :P
When we got back, we just got ready for a family gathering. My cousin came with her two kids. + Her sister in law with her husband and mother. Kasia's husband dropped by for a sec, but he had to get back to work. I spent most of the time with Kasia's 20 month old daughter, just making sure she didn't bother Ami too much and didn't draw all over the table instead of the paper.
When they all left we were ready for dinner, one of my aunt's mates dropped by to join us.
That's it for today. :) Tomorrow we're getting up really early and goin' on home. Am looking forward to sleeping in my own bed, even though I had a great time down here. Have lots of preparations for my return to London as well. I leave next week, and then it gets serious, have three essays to write and I have to read for my exam as well... But until then I'm just going to enjoy the free-time I've got. ;)

Have lots of preparations for my return to London as well. I leave next week, and then it gets serious, have three essays to write and I have to read for my exam as well... But until then I'm just going to enjoy the free-time I've got. ;)
And the beat goes on...
Apr. 17th, 2004 11:31 amNow... where was I in the exiting telling of our trip to Germany? Oh, yes.. thursday evening.
As I guessed, we didn't do anything else that day, stayed in and watched telly. Beluga and I finished of the day by watching "El Mariachi". It was ok, I almost fell asleep watching it though.
Yesterday was quite a busy day. First my mom, aunt, Kasia (Katarina), Beluga and I crammed into the car and drove to a shopping mall 20mins away.
Was pretty big mall, we didn't get to see much of it though. At least Beluga managed to buy some tops. All I bought was a Pepsi, and two pens.
We had a quick stop back at the flat, before we went to visit my other cousin, Bartek. He'd invited us over for coffee. He had a really nice flat, it was the first time I'd seen it. Was a great prize on it too, and he had enough space for himself. I'd be muchly happy to have place like that when I finally move out.
We then drove back to the flat and had dinner, we got some quiet time to get our things in order, and at 19:30 we went to the "Hamburger Dom". We walked around for most of it, I enjoyed myself. We met up with my cousin and her family. Beluga and I went to a special effects show. It was just some lights on a screen, it was nice to look at, but I think the price was a bit high.
I followed my cousins kid up in a ferris-wheel. Was actually pretty nice, got to see the whole Dom, and much of the city. It was pretty dark at the time, so I mostly saw the lights of the city. :) In the meantime Beluga had a trip in a rollercoaster, she wasn't to pleased with it, as it didn't last long enough.
We broke away from the parental-units and went looking for a real ride for Beluga, she found a fast thing where she'd be turned up side down and such. (I stayed of it, as I get sick just by looking at it.) She seemed to have lots of fun riding it, they stopped for 2 secs in the middle of her ride, and turned of most of the lights in the park. Once the fireworks started, the machine started up again. I actually think she got a longer ride since she got on when the fireworks started. When she finally got off she was pretty jazzed. :)
We hurried and met up with the rest of the crew again, and stared walking towards the exit, stopped some places and had a look. I gave one of those grabby-machines a try, you know those machines with a claw, and the you have to steer it towards a thing you want, then it grabs it.. or not. I won a teddy. It was cute, and I needed some kind of proof that I'd been to the Dom.
Beluga and I stopped at a ghost house, she saw that there'd be live actors, so we though it might be fun. In front of the house there was a big tree, looked like Treebeard if he'd ever gotten drunk. The biggest scare it got there was before we bought the tickets. :P Some guy dressed up as a vampire jumped out of the smoke and said: "BO!"
All in all it was rather amusing. There was a guy dressed all in white, with a dirty face, and a cute little teddy that he kept petting following us around. There was a group of teeny-boopers close by as well, and he really freaked them out. LOL, wimps!
When we finished at the ghost house, we made our way towards exit again. Had a little look in the shop, and Beluga bought herself some new sun-glasses. We left as they were closing, and got back to the flat at about 00:30. I was pretty tired, and it didn't take long for me to fall asleep. No movies that night, oh no.
Today, Beluga's off to the hairdresser to get some highlights, mom and my aunt went to visit someone. My dad, uncle and I are staying in, just taking it easy.
We go back home on Monday... not sure what the plan is for the remaining day. We might go to another mall later today, and I think we're visiting my cousin tomorrow.

Now what have I done today??
Apr. 13th, 2004 06:19 pmNot much really, got up, after a rest-less night. Hate having a runny nose!
Had breakfast, got ready, then we driven in the direction of my cousin's house.
I was let off at the hairdresser's. While the rest of the crew went to my cousin's.
I didn't have any big plans for my hair, just wanted a better shape to it, and some highlights. The whole process took a little over three hours (I think). At one moment while she was blow drying my hair it started looking really white, and I just though "Shit! I'm gonna look like Storm!", I like her hair, but doubt it would suit me. Luckily it turned out ok. It looks great, not too obvious, but nice, and I don't have that "I miss my old hair" thought running through my head. I seriously think this is the only time I've been really pleased over a hair-do.
Afterwards I joined the rest of the crew at my cousin's house, Beluga had attacked their DVD collection. We went through it, and found quite a few movies that we borrowed from them.
Afterwards we went to a mall, didn't stay there long. I started feeling really crappy, so I spent the last 15 minutes on a bench. Was ok, am just happy to be back at the flat now. Am knackered.

I'm siiiiiiiiick!
Apr. 12th, 2004 07:41 pmWe're sick. My head feels pretty heavy and I have a runny nose, same goes for Belgua. She seems a little more high-spirited than me though.
Yesterday after we got back, we didn't do much... think the most exiting thing was watching "O Brother where Art Thou", I was feeling pretty shitty by that time anyway, so a evening doing nothing was right up my alley.
Ami (my dog) ran away at one point, my dad, mom, Beluga and I ran out looking for him. I was two seconds for just starting to cry, when I saw mom coming up the road with him in her arms. I could have strangled him, but was just so happy to have him back.
During the night, Ami was sick, and threw up. Beluga and I had to clean it up. NASTY! Which resulted in a lack of sleep.
Today we had a big family breakfast, it was good. Quiet morning. As I wrote earlier, Beluga and I are sick. My aunt has basically lost her voice, so it's a sick-house here right now.
After the family breakfast we went to Fen-markt (possibly spelled wrong). A big market where they had a lot of crap, but I found two things amongst it all. "X-Men: Mutant Academy 2" game for my Play Station, and a lighter, that I'm gonna paint to look like the one Pyro has in "X2". It was pretty cheap, got the game for 14 Euro and the lighter for 2 Euro.
In the afternoon, Beluga and I rented "Matchstick Men". It was ok. From the commercials I had gotten the impression that it was going to be a somewhat amusing crime-caper, but it wasn't. Basically Nicolas Cage plays a neurotic con man who gets to know his 14 year old daughter while pulling off a con with his partner Frank. It's more serious than I had gotten the impression of anyway. I'd probably have appreciated it more if I'd had a better clue of what to expect.
Tomorrow I'm going to the hairdresser... Friday we're going to the Dom... other than that, I have no clue.

Back from our camping trip
Apr. 11th, 2004 02:15 pmGot back from the camping trip about an hour ago. I'm rather tired, even tho we got to sleep this morning and I went to bed rather early yesterday compared to the other nights.
Belgua and my aunt have got the cold, my mom and I are starting to get it. Might be why I'm tired... don't know.
Anyways we had a nice time yesterday. Left early and drove for a while. Stopped in a little town and had a look in the shops. I just bought two tapes for my video camera, and a 5 pack of mini-disks. I was a nice day, the sun was shining and the temperature was at a comfortable level.
When we eventually arrived at the camp site we just took it easy. Beluga and I watched a little tv, there was an "Osbournes" marathon, so that was on much of the time. We also read our books.
In the eventing we went to a restaurant, but they didn't really have any food that Beluga and I liked, so after a discussion we went up to a diner at the other end of the grounds. Chicken and fries, always good. :)
After we'd eaten we returned to the camper van and watched some more TV, and read. Eventually Beluga and I went to look for the parental-units who were by the camp-fire. (It's a tradition in Germany to have camp fires at easter.) Found them, had a look at the fire, and returned to the camper van.
All in all it was a pretty easy-going day. I didn't mind it at all, and Belgua seemed happy reading her "Sharpe" book. (I'm still reading LOTR for the 3rd time.)
Today we got to sleep in, did me good. We just took it easy and got on our way after a while. Now we're back in Hamburg. Don't really have any plans for the rest of the day, might be just as well; give the sick a chance to get better. :)

Apr. 9th, 2004 06:17 pmMade it to Germany in one piece... almost. :p
Beluga came over Tuesday evening, to sleep over since we were leaving early next morning. We didn't get much sleep, I was tired, but my body and brain wouldn't listen + Beluga chattering beside me most of the night didn't help much. It didn't matter tho, got up in the morning without much trouble.
Eventually we got moving, and got on board the boat. We hurried to the seating area, since we wanted seats by the window. That didn't happen. We had reserved places in Captain's class which basically means we get a buffet on the 2.5 hour boat trip. Eat as much as you like.
Most people were finished eating before the boat left port, I waited a little while, but finally fetched some food.
Bad thing was that there would be about 1.5-2 meter high waves during the trip, something they mentioned after I had eaten. The waves hit us on the side on the back of the boat, so it was a pretty bad rocking motion. I sat with my eyes closed, just focusing on my breathing, and trying to zone out the people around me that started throwing up. After a while my mom got sick and started throwing up, which made it really hard to ignore. Didn't take long before I got sick as well. Beluga, and my parents thought I was sleeping since I had my eyes closed, but it was just so I wouldn't have to look at the pucking people. Sorry...am writing a little too much in detail about this... in short, my mom and I got sea-sick. Beluga and my dad din't.
When we eventually got our feet on land again I was pretty knackered, and was just happy that I wouldn't have to endure more waves for a while.
After an about 6 hour drive we arrived in Hamburg, and got a huge welcome from my family. It was great to see them all again, and I'm just happy to be here. When we got to my aunts apartment she gave us enough food to feed a small village. I took it as I had only eaten a little dry bread, and some gum since the boat ride.
We went to bed early, 21:00, took a while before I got to sleep tho. I was knackered. Beluga wasn't tired at all, poor thing, don't think I was pretty good company that day.
The next morning we had to get up at 09:00, which I didn't really mind. Would have loved to sleep some more, but I got up without much trouble. We went to a local mall, which is walking distance from the flat. Bought some candy. Then we went to a bigger mall called "Elbe". I got my eye on a "X-Men" game for Play Station 1, we'll probably be going there again, so I think I'll buy it. After wards we went to yet another shopping mall, I just bought a Coke, as the air in that mall was really thick and it didn't take long before I started feeling I'll. Helped with a little to drink tho.
The evening we just took it easy, think all of us were pretty knackered. Most of the grownups went to bed at at 21:00, Beluga and I stayed up watching Nirvana stuff on German MTV until 23:15. After that we just talked and had fun. Don't think we really went to sleep until about 02:00.
We had to get up at 09:00 again this morning, that was hard. I didn't get up more out of spite than the fact that I was tired. Ended up with someone letting the air out of the mattress we were sleeping on. I gave up in the end and got up. We didn't do much today, had a drive around the city, had a little look around. We saw the city hall, and the channel with the boats. Lastly we drove to the Repobahn, which is basically a very seedy area, with nudy bars, hookers, and such. Sad thing is that there's a police station in the same street, and a church at the other end of the street. We just drove through it, wasn't really tempting to step out of the car.
We were supposed to go to the "Hamburg Dom" this evening, which is a big traveling amusement park. But it's a holy day, so it's closed. Belgua and I have just taken it easy, spent some time reading our books, and figuring out what we can do while we're here. :)
Tomorrow we're going to a camp site, and will sleep over until Sunday. Looking forward to it. :)
